Patay Na Si Hesus: A Movie Review

I was never a fan of Filipino mainstream movies. I find it overrated, overhyped, and sometimes, it’s not worth my money. Sometimes, the plot and story lines are often overused. I’m this type of movie goer who overanalyzes every element of the movie (on rare occasions, however, I watch flicks that don’t need critical thinking). Since the advent of Filipino indie movies in the early 2000s, it had touched several subjects that were considered taboo in mainstream media. I have never seen a movie that is so funny, so poignant, and so insane in many levels.

There are so many movies that portray the typical life of a Filipino family, but none of them portrayed it like Patay Na Si Hesus did.

Two Less Lonely People In The World

Love is definitely one of the most complex things in the world. Biochemistry may have an explanation about its nature and how our physical body reacts to it, but no one completely understands it until you finally experienced it. Sometimes, it comes into your life when you least expect it.

Kita Kita (I See You) is not your ordinary rom-com movie. It is not about the sappy kind of love that we always see on prime time TV. It is all about the love that we've always wished - kind and unconditional. Having Empoy Marquez and Alessandra de Rossi play the leading roles of this movie already set it apart from others. Their unusual pairing was effective that it made me laugh and cry in some parts of the flick. Empoy's ordinary looks and Alessandra's blindness clearly sends a message that genuine love just happens spontaneously. What matters most is your heart and not your physical looks. There's this invisible yet strong energy that drives two souls to meet at some point in their lives. Sometimes, it can be painful, but it is still the most beautiful thing to experience. After all, life is all about taking chances.

The shooting location (Sapporo, Japan) and KZ Tandingan's heartfelt rendition of Air Supply's 'Two Less Lonely People in the World' truly enhanced the overall mood of the movie. I have never seen a Pinoy rom-com movie that is so straightforward, sincere, and poignant.

Definitely a must-watch! This is one of my most favorite Pinoy movies, and I wouldn't mind watching this over and over again.

Farewell, Chester

Growing up in the early 2000s, the songs of Linkin Park were no stranger to me. In fact, I found their songs powerful and influential since most of my friends sing their hearts out every time they hear 'In The End' and 'Numb' on the radio or TV. Linkin Park was an acquired taste. I was never a fan of Chester's raspy and powerful voice, but after dissecting the lyrics, I became a fan. Behind the screams were words that cut the deepest. Chester, you have helped us to battle our own demons, and it's so sad that you lost your own battle. In the end, it does really matter. The shadow of the day will embrace the world in gray. The sun will set for you, Chester.

When my time comes,
forget the wrong that I've done.
Help me leave behind some,
Reasons to be missed.
And don't resent me,
And when you're feeling empty,
Keep me in your memory.
Leave out all the rest,
Leave out all the rest.

Rainy June

Today is my day off and I have so many thoughts to pour out on this post. I don't where to begin, but oh well, here goes nothing.

My asthma has already taken its toll on me. It all started with an allergic rhinitis last month, and it got worse by the third week of May. I don't know, it felt like I inhaled so many pollens and dust that it made my airways constricted. I was having difficulty in breathing, plus add the fact that my work's stressing me out lately. Since three personnel were not around due to training, I was forced to take over their position. I had at least four 24-hr shift last month, and it pisses me off. I don't know, back in my previous facility, we were always informed beforehand. Today, it felt like I'm an on-call doctor. Yeah, the spontaneous overtime is an overkill. I had no choice but to accept it. I'm one of the juniors, and I fucking hate this bureaucracy. I think we need a system overhaul. I strongly believe that we are currently mismanaged by these greedy fucktards. Okay, enough with work. I shouldn't be thinking about it. But hey, don't get me wrong, I love my job. It's my dream to work in the aviation industry but it's just... it's just... some people fail to realize that we should take a break from it sometimes. It is never on my bucket list to be a workaholic, or work 32 to 40 hours straight. Ugh!

Retina

Whaddup? Last Sunday, I bought a new laptop. It's about time. My 7-year old Macbook (the white one) is slow af and I can no longer multitask (chrome + iMovie + Photoshop). It even slows down if I open MS Word! What a loser.

I bought a new Macbook Pro with a Retina Display. I was torn between buying the sleek 12" Space Gray Macbook or the newest version of Macbook Pro. The newest models of Apple laptops don't have the standard USB port and card reader. Instead, they've changed all of its ports to USB C. It's more expensive since I have to buy a new adaptor for the connectors. But hey, the Macbook Pro Retina display DID NOT DISAPPOINT. The retina display is so worth it. WORTH EVERY FUCKING PENNY. I guess my birthday came early. I won't be spending my birthday abroad (but who knows, right?), but I'm so happy that I have a new laptop hahahaha. Whatever.

01.03

I am tired of playing the nice guy card. Like, seriously. I'm a nice person but once provoked, you will never see the world again. I am seriously pissed off to those people who judge you base from hearsays. I can't fathom why they act like that as if they're some kind of a spoiled brat who cries foul whenever they encounter things that they don't like.

Just give me a chance to work. Rest assured that I am an efficient employee unlike some of your cohorts who know nothing but to spread rumors. They should've changed their occupation to rumor mongers LOL.

And as for you, my dear, I suggest that you should choose your battles wisely. It seems that you have chosen the wrong enemy.
