The fifth saga of Resident Evil continues from the last scenes of Afterlife. Once again, Alice is recaptured by Umbrella Corporation after her escape from Arcadia, a cargo tanker that was meant to be the safe haven for what was left for the humans.

Retribution continues the story of Alice (played by Milla Jovovich). We all know that soon after the virus infected Umbrella Corporation's underground facility aptly named The Hive, everyone died but her. Apparently, the T-virus bonded to Alice at the cellular level, allowing her to acquire superhuman skills. But that's not all, Umbrella Corporation experimented her by extracting her DNA and create thousands of Alice clones (as seen from Resident Evil: Extinction). The virus spread like wildfire all over the world causing the human race on the brink of extinction. Since the first RE movie, the story remained simple and the script was meh. Thanks for that, Paul W.S. Anderson!

There were a lot of recurring characters from the previous RE movies and I admit that I had a hard time remembering them. There's Jill Valentine (played by Sienna Guillory) from Apocalypse, Albert Wesker (Shawn Roberts) from Apocalypse and Extinction and Rain Ocampo (Michelle Rodriguez) from the very first Resident Evil. Seeing them together was great, but their exposure was not long enough to appreciate.

Retribution is Chinese actress Bingbing Li's debut in Hollywood. She plays Ada Wong, Alice's new found ally... a hot new found ally to be precise. I can't imagine a petite woman wearing thigh-high slit red dress and six-inch stilettos whilst shooting those bad guys (both alive and dead) using her high-caliber guns.

Other than that, Milla Jovovich is the MAIN reason why PEOPLE still watch this movie franchise. Forget about the lousy slo-mo scenes that didn't fit with the movie's musical score or the virtually unlimited ammunition of the rogue team. The important thing is, there's Milla and we saw her naked (for the nth time) save for two white cloths over her front and back. Don't forget the one-on-one fight scenes of Alice and the brainwashed Jill Valentine. I find that particular scene smokin' hot and sexy. Now THAT'S a bitch fight, ladies and gentlemen. Well at least it compromised the whole movie.

And just what I have expected, this is just the beginning of the end. Just one request though: IN ORDER TO SAVE THIS MOVIE FRANCHISE, PLEASE HIRE A NEW DIRECTOR AND WRITER FOR THE FINAL (and I think the sequel's gonna be the last, judging from the last scene) RESIDENT EVIL MOVIE!

There, I finally said it. But overall, I'd give it 6.5/10. I'd recommend to watch in on 3D or IMAX though. But if you didn't care about the storyline and character development, you'd probably give a high rating. Don't worry, I felt that way moments after watching this flick. It's pretty normal.

And once again, Milla Jovovich saved the Resident Evil movie franchise. A round of applause please! No sarcasm intended.
