How Does One Waltz Away?

Last week, I finally have the chance to watch Anna And The King. The movie was first released last December 1999, almost 20 years ago. I know, shame... shame, but better late than ever, okay?

The movie is all about King Mongkut's relationship with the Kingdom of Siam's newly hired English schoolteacher, Anna Leonowens. Basically, it's all about finding love in a very untimely circumstance. I really like this movie because it's not too cheesy, and it reflects the reality of life. You meet someone who would make your life meaningful but do not end up with the person whom you truly love. Sometimes, they come to our life to teach us valuable lessons.

Here's my favorite part of the movie, during the last part. IT REALLY STRUCK THE CORE OF MY SOUL.

Anna: I, uh, ordered this some time ago for the children. It's a fine example of scientific thinking. As music is mathematical in nature
King Mongkut: Chords, constructed from notes in intervals of thirds. And so on, and so on.
Anna: Precisely. I would like to know why, if science can unravel something as beautiful as music, why it cannot posit a solution for a school teacher and a king?
King Mongkut: The manner in which people might understand, such new possibilities is also a process of evolution.
Anna: Everything in Siam has its own time.
King Mongkut: Even if King is also wanting it to be different.
Anna: I still must go, Your Majesty.
King Mongkut: So, where is it you will be going?
Anna: England.
King Mongkut: Home. This is good ma'am. Very good for Louis as well.
Anna: What?
King Mongkut: I'm wondering if given circumstances it is appropriate for a King to ask... Anna... to dance?
Anna: I have danced with a king before, your Majesty
King Mongkut: And I... an Englishwoman. Until now, Madam Leonowens, I did not understand supposition man could be satisfied with only one woman.
Narrator (Prince Chulalongkorn): I was only a boy, but the image of my father, holding the woman he loved for the last time has remained with me throughout the years. It is always surprising how small a part of life is taken up by meaningful moments. Most often they're over before they start even though they cast a light on the future and make the person who originated them unforgettable. Anna had shined such a light to Siam.

Such a bittersweet ending.

Of Black Stilettos, Unlimited Ammo and Lousy Script

Resident Evil: Retribution
Action / Horror / Sci-fi
Directed and written by Paul W.S. Anderson
Starring Milla Jovovich, Sienna Guillory and Michelle Rodriguez

Poster source

The fifth saga of Resident Evil continues from the last scenes of Afterlife. Once again, Alice is recaptured by Umbrella Corporation after her escape from Arcadia, a cargo tanker that was meant to be the safe haven for what was left for the humans.

Retribution continues the story of Alice (played by Milla Jovovich). We all know that soon after the virus infected Umbrella Corporation's underground facility aptly named The Hive, everyone died but her. Apparently, the T-virus bonded to Alice at the cellular level, allowing her to acquire superhuman skills. But that's not all, Umbrella Corporation experimented her by extracting her DNA and create thousands of Alice clones (as seen from Resident Evil: Extinction). The virus spread like wildfire all over the world causing the human race on the brink of extinction. Since the first RE movie, the story remained simple and the script was meh. Thanks for that, Paul W.S. Anderson!

This story that I'm about to tell you happened when I was in sixth grade.

We were in the middle of the most solemn part of our recollection when Rica (not her real name) went outside to pee. When she was about to finish washing her hands, her guy classmate suddenly appeared at the door.

"Hey John (not his real name)! What are you doing here? This is not the male's comfort room, it's at the other side," my classmate cheered.

John didn't respond; he was just staring at her.

Rica thought John was just pulling a prank on her. "Huy, ikaw ha! 'Wag kang magbiro ng ganyan!"

Once again, John didn't give a response.

Rica poked his right shoulder. "Alis na nga ako, tinatakot mo lang ako."

When Rica went back to the conference room, he spotted John with his circle of friends. He seemed happy. She thought John was just joking.

She approached her and asked, "Ikaw ha! Tinatakot mo lang ako sa CR kanina!"

"Huh? What are you talking about?"

"Diba, nandun ka kanina, 'di mo nga ako kinikibuan eh! Akala ko may galit ka sa akin!"

"Uhm, di ako lumabas kanina. I swear! I'm not lying!"

The two went silent.

Long Week

There are few things that I have to consider...things that made my week longer than I anticipated.

Exactly 7 days ago, I felt this odd feeling around my upper palate. It was irritatingly itchy. But I didn't care about it and still continue to do things related to my major subjects. But hell, things get worse last Monday, right after the cheerdance practice. I can't breathe. It's like there are hundreds of hands squeezing my lungs. Breathing is supposed to be a necessity since we living things need oxygen. Instead, it was a torture. When I got home I took a bath (because I was all sweaty and had this weird sticky feeling at that time), ate dinner and had myself nebulized for about 25 minutes. Gaad, it was a relief. I slept for almost 12 hours.

Time is running out. I promised myself not to cram with my ZOO113 Lab exam. So little by little I started to memorize things starting to the unimaginable parts of Amphioxus (Branchiostoma lanceolatum) to the carapace and plastron of the poor turtle. At least I have answered all of the questions... but... I'm... not.... quite.... sure.... if I hit the right answer. Pffft. Damn it.

Anyway, I am getting annoyed with this creature because this creature is supposedly to be extinct. Uggghhhhh. The creature's physical looks are terrible.

Speaking of terrible, mom brought this scary mask from my godmother last night. She said these masks came all the way from Bali, Indonesia. These masks remind me of something spooky. But heck, I think it's cool.

I and brother fooling with those scary-lookin' masks. HAHAHAAHA We looked like a twin here. Lol :))))

Last week was very long and the following weeks would be longer - more demanding, and more sleepless nights to consider. But yeah, weekends are supposedly to be nerd-free - as in non-acads day. So I decided to watch Ice Age 3. Man, it was surely entertaining.

Okay, so now, I'm feeling better. Better than Monday. For three days, my voice had changed due to my sickness.

So, how's you're week? Hope you're doing fine.

Stressed yet happy,
Renz. :)
