2019 Eurovision Song Contest Blog Review

I've started watching Eurovision Song Contest since 2012 (thank you, Eurovision YouTube Channel for uploading the entire show). I was curious that time, and after watching Loreen's winning moment, it dawned on me that this show is a BIG DEAL in entire Europe! I mean, it's like Basketball and Miss Universe to the Philippines. Everyone country in Europe is hyped by it, and they have crazy fans as well. In a nutshell, the show is a song contest. Each song must not be more than three minutes, an original composition (but over the years, some songs were subjected to copyright infringement due to the striking resemblance of the chords and notes being used), and can be sung in English or their native language. Each country has the right to vote their favorites on a point system - 12 being the highest, and 1 being the lowest. The voting system was changed in 2016, where the viewers now have the chance to vote for their favorites, using the same point system. The country that has the highest points wins the competition and will have a chance to host this amazing show.

Over the years, it has been subjected to a lot of controversies, especially in European politics. But, let's not tackle that because it's none of our business, lol. This year, Israel will host the ESC 2019 at Tel Aviv. Weeks ago, Eurovision released the final 41 songs of the contest. I've originally planned to create a vlog about it but I don't have much time. Here's my blog reaction about the 41 finalists of the Eurovision Song Contest 2019.

China Rich

With a heavy heart, I am done reading Crazy Rich Asians. I bought in around three days ago and I so hate myself being a fast reader. I tried to slow down and read at least a few chapters per day but God, I can't stop reading. It was a light read and at the same time, very funny. I never thought that I'd enjoy Kevin Kwan's debut novel. Well, I can somehow relate to this novel (not that I'm part of the nouveau riche family #wishfulthinking) because all events in the novel were set in Singapore.

Hopefully when I get home in Davao, I'll buy its sequel.

Fuck Society

Still in the state of mindfuck after watching the first season of Mr. Robot. Damn, it was so good that I am still not over with it! I guess I'd be suffering from existential crisis. It felt like I was Elliot. He was me. And all those talking-to-my-imaginary-audiences scenes. Just kidding. Don't get me wrong though, I am not suffering from clinical depression, I am not seeing a psychiatrist, and most of all, I am not sniffing substances. Haha!

But yeah, is it just me or Elliot = Mr. Robot aka his dad aka his daemon = Tyrell Wellick? I know the third one sounds crazy but... have you ever thought about it too? The final episode was really intense and I loved the character development of the show. Piece by piece, we've finally unravelled the mysterious world of Elliot, or so we thought. I was really thinking that Mr. Robot was real, until after watching the 9th episode.

The confrontation scene of Elliot and Joanna was one of my favorites throughout the first season. It was so intense. Joanna's smile may mean something. Well, it was clear that she's really hiding something, AND SHE FUCKING KNOWS WHERE TYRELL IS. But I don't know, honestly. It's just me. Or isn't? She was clearly fishing for information about her husband's whereabouts, but she seemed nonchalant.

Can't fucking wait for the second season. Yes, I've never typed so many curse words in one fucking blog post, unless if I'm fuming mad (which I'm not, quite obviously). But I'll can't just help it but to let it out. Damn. I repeat, this series is so good!

We Are Infinite: A Movie Review

The Perks Of Being A Wallflower
Starring Logan Lerman, Emma Watson and Ezra Miller
Written and Directed by Stephen Chbosky

Despite being a straight A student, my life in high school was never awesome. No wait, I sort of hated it. Sometimes I get bullied emotionally (thank God I was never beaten physically). Sometimes, I let them copy my homework in Chemistry, Calculus or Physics in exchange of not bullying for at least a month or two... but it actually didn't work. Often times, I was accused of being a teacher's pet because I was just being participative in the class.

Reading and watching The Perks Of Being A Wallflower made me realize that I wasn't alone of experiencing this kind of ordeal so to speak.

This story that I'm about to tell you happened when I was in sixth grade.

We were in the middle of the most solemn part of our recollection when Rica (not her real name) went outside to pee. When she was about to finish washing her hands, her guy classmate suddenly appeared at the door.

"Hey John (not his real name)! What are you doing here? This is not the male's comfort room, it's at the other side," my classmate cheered.

John didn't respond; he was just staring at her.

Rica thought John was just pulling a prank on her. "Huy, ikaw ha! 'Wag kang magbiro ng ganyan!"

Once again, John didn't give a response.

Rica poked his right shoulder. "Alis na nga ako, tinatakot mo lang ako."

When Rica went back to the conference room, he spotted John with his circle of friends. He seemed happy. She thought John was just joking.

She approached her and asked, "Ikaw ha! Tinatakot mo lang ako sa CR kanina!"

"Huh? What are you talking about?"

"Diba, nandun ka kanina, 'di mo nga ako kinikibuan eh! Akala ko may galit ka sa akin!"

"Uhm, di ako lumabas kanina. I swear! I'm not lying!"

The two went silent.
