Second Chance

Last week, I got a letter from the embassy, and I got denied. It was disheartening at first but when I read the letter, it wasn't bad that all. Sought help to someone's knowledgable about it, and it took us around 3 days to finish the online application. However, they have a new immigration requirement. I need to submit the biometrics in either Manila or Cebu. No Davao. Of course, I chose Cebu since it's nearer. It was my first time to fly in and fly out on a city on the same day! Crazy, right? But anyway, they are now processing my visa and hopefully this time, I've provided the documents they needed. Gosh, I can't think of other reasons why they won't grant me a visitor's visa. As the cliche goes, there's always a first time. It was truly heartbreaking, but I have no choice but to move on. I know I spent 7k from my first application. There were regrets, but there's no point of crying over spilled milk. I can always bring back the money I spent, but I can't just afford to throw away my one and only chance to work and live in Toronto.

It happened to me

Yes finally, it happened to me (lol screw that Ariel TVC). I am back on the grid. Two months ago, I swore that I should update my personal blog more often but lo and behold, my approach control training stopped me from doing such. After more than six weeks of training, simulated dry runs, written and oral exams, and the extremely difficult check-out, I am proud to say that I'm officially a rated procedural approach controller here in Tacloban Aerodrome/Approach Control. Meaning, I'm on my own. No more seniors or slantbars to guide me on what to do with my traffic. Bigger responsibilities, yes but everything's worth it at the end of the day.

Anyway, I should start writing blog drafts soon.

Right now, I am trying to finish at least a hundred novels before the year ends. Current read: The Art of Fielding by Chad Harbach. I think it's my 37th (or was it 38th?) book for this year. I am confident that I'd finish more than a hundred before the year ends.

Lastly, mom and granny's going to visit me in Tacloban this 16th! I can't wait. Teehee. Plus, this June, I'd be wearing braces. So yep, good luck to me, most especially on the food that I always eat. See also: sabaw diet.

And That Ends the First Half

So far, so good. A few days ago, I have FINALLY received the thing that I've been waiting for since March. And when it rains, it REALLY floods! Patience is truly a virtue. And with that big amount, I'm thinking of investing my earnings soon in the stocks and insurances. I'd want to make sure that my future wouldn't be that scary. You know, when you fail to plan, you plan to fail. Something like that.

Anyway, I've decided to stay here in Tacloban for good due to some circumstances. I'd still go home every month, well depending on my work schedule. But hey, don't get me wrong, I still consider this as a BIG blessing in my life. Never in my life did I think that I'd ACTUALLY become an air traffic controller. Honestly, I still surreals whenever I think about my career. People tend look quizzical whenever they learn about my work.

And oh, I miss blogging big time. I miss those days when I still have this energy to share how my day went, no matter how mundane it was. Three to four times A DAY. Yep, you heard it right! HAHA college days. This personal blog of mine will turn 8 this October. Wow, just wow! Amazing! Reading my previous posts in the previous years made me realize that I somehow grew more mature when it comes to dealing with life decisions and other #mature stuff (no, not the NSFW #mature stuff).

Well, that's it for now! The month of May is about to end. We are now through with the first half of the year. And, I'm hoping that the second half would be more awesome! Cheers!
