I wasn't really that updated about the latest craze in the realm of K-Pop (Korean Pop). Hell, the only K-Pop group that I listen is SNSD or Girls' Generation! I'm a fan... errr, well not really. Until now, I still have the hard time who Seohyun or Yuri is and I still have to Google Hyoyeon's face. Well for me, it's Yoona and others.
Going back to the topic, I got really intrigued about this latest dance craze - the "Oppa Gangnam Style!"craze. At first, I didn't mind about it until some of my friends posted the actual music video on Facebook and Twitter. Out of curiosity clicked it.
AND THAT MOMENT CHANGED MY PERSPECTIVES IN LIFE.
Well, not really.
But I admit that the song was indeed catchy. I didn't understand the lyrics but it really brought me to tears... tears brought about by extreme laughter. I thought that the dance moves were crazy and nonsense, even the music video itself, but... uhm, I don't know how to explain this... but... ugh, whatever. I actually played the video ten times after I watched it for the first time! I think Psy put something on the music video that made everyone on this God-forsaken planet to watch it over and over again. Madness overload! No wonder that this video has the most number of views (117 million as of today; K-Pop Category), surpassing SNSD's Gee and even Carly Rey Jepsen's Call Me Maybe (ugh, finally!).

Gangnam Style has gone epic and viral. I am not sure how it penetrated the Philippine airwaves. Maybe because it was Vice Ganda who sensationalized it on Showtime, one of Philippines' noon time shows. Even some of my friends that were not into K-Pop became crazy and started talking about this video.
To quote the Gangnam Style's official Wiki page:
"Gangnam Style" is a Korean language colloquialism that refers to a luxurious lifestyle associated with the Gangnam district, an affluent and trendy area of Seoul. The music video depicts Psy dancing at various locations in Gangnam. The song is about "the perfect girlfriend who knows when to be refined and when to get wild."
Not only that, Gangnam Style had caught the attention of the international media outlets such as CBC and CNN. Both describe the video as "very different and comedic." The internationally famous magazine, Time Magazine noted that the video garnered hundreds of millions of views on YouTube, most of them were made by repeat viewers. They even added that it's not hard to watch the video again… and again… and again… and again. Well, I can attest to that!
It's very astonishing on how a silly thing like this created this unusual unity to people all over the world. It doesn't matter whether you're black, white, yellow, tan, faux-tan or even red. As long as you know how to sing (Nangshoe nu nu nu nu ani YOJA... Kashukro nu nu nu ani YOJA!) and/or dance the Gangnam Style way, you have already contributed something good for the betterment of this planet. I do hope your god showers you with blessings... and money and house and cars.
Now, time for my daily dose of Gangnam Style. I do hope Dance Central or Just Dance would include this song soon! I'm looking forward to dance this over and over again on XBox Kinect. Teehee!
K-Pop is slowly invading the world!
Oppa Gangnam Style! HEY SEXY LADY!
