Just being Lucky

As usual, my favorite hang-out and past time when I get bored is to surf the net all through out until my eyes get sick of it, eventually after 6 or 7 hours eventually. Too much radiation is bad so I must have a limitation. Right now, though, I'm in an internet cafe. Well, 2 hours id the leadt that I can afford. As I surf the net, I could see much of my complementary teenagers around here. Maybe a year older to me or a two. Then, they all laughed like silly animals, chatting to some girls out there full of pretentions, nah, I don't care about them, really. But what caught my attention is that when he edited his own friendster account, well guess what?! he's only sixteen! His birthday was June 30, 1990, but to think he looks thirty or what, but heck!? Seriously. I don't think that he still attends school but what made me smirked on that time is that, he doesn't know how to spell Engineer! , for he spelled 'ingineer' , and layout as ' layuot ' . His friends are laughing at him like flying hippos! Oh my God! A sixteen year-old can't spell those easy words?! Oh my,what's happening around here? Well it's not like I'm making fun og him or what, but seriously, it's a big deal for me. But then, lately I realized that he was only a 'tambay' (a person who doing nothing at all; idle), and he doesn't attend school anymore, in my own point-of-view. Maybe, because of financial problems, that the parents have insufficient money to send their son to school or what. Mind you, he's a smoker- maybe the reason why he looks older than me, because study shows that nicotine and over a thousands, yes, thousands of harmful chemicals found in just one cigarette could cause such damages to brain and it makes you older than usual.

Just what I've realized lately, I'm lucky. So lucky.

Yesterday was yet another tiring day. In the morning, I had to wake up early again, not because I had to attend those stupid practices or what, but because we had an obligation to do- an obligation to serve most especially to the children. We had our reach-out in an institution just behind Davao Medical Center or DMC. This is an institution wherein children who were abandoned in the hospital where placed here usually after their reckless mother left them after they gave birth to these innocent children. But, as what the standby officer had oriented us that their are some cases that they accept those children who were voluntarily placed in the institution by their parents due to financial problems and insanity. Somehow, there are other cases that children are brought in here because their father's a criminal, their mom died, so forth and so on. Last thing is that, three of the admitted children are mentally retarded. The eldest is 16 yrs. old, 13 yrs. old and 11 yrs. old. The three of them are brothers and their mother died after she gave birth to the father. I don't know what happened to their father.

So we went inside, cuddling those cute babies, played with them, mingled with them in their playroom. We had adopted those cute babies named NR , which stands for No reaction and Pouty, because of her Pouty lips . Both them are really adorable. We took pictures to them and to ourselves of course. Then there's this one child, a girl who's very annoying, for me, maybe she's a KSP (kulang sa pansin) or what, maybe she's that because of her traumatic experience, whatever. Imagine, she really wants to ride on our backs, especially to the boys, and what made us laughed when he went ot my bestfriend, Cocok and kissed him. Not an ordinary kiss but an erotic kiss! It's like she wanted to lick Louie's face back and fro. And there's this one kid when he had a tantrum, Ma'am went to him and guess what? As if there trying to be in a circus act! Seriously! We ate the merienda together with them and went back to school by 10 am.

By lunch, we went to the mall and ate at the Port Cafe . There we went to the gaming section of the mall, and one of my friend's barkada, Kate met her other barkada as well. They mingled and talked for while and then we went to Sonic Boom. Me and Daniel played the Dance Revo in which I beat him, to think he's a great dancer than to me, who danced like a stick! Hahahaha. After that, Kate met her another friend. Talk for a while and showed his magazine to Kate. I had a quick glance to the magazine and it contains a 'hunk' with his descriptions and bio-data about him. I thought that their friend was feautured in that magazine. And they bade goodbye with a goodbye kiss (to the cheeks), similar to lovers. Then I asked,

"Uyyy, ikaw Kate ha, boyfriend ka na ha!"

Then she replied without hesitation,

"Boyfriend ka jan! Siya yung sinasabi ko sayo kanina nung nasa Anchies, dun sa friendster slide show ko, (net cafe in school) yung kabarkada ko na gwapo pero BADING! "

I was stunned at that moment and replied okay. We want to take a studio picture, but because we had no money, well we have money but we have to save as well. So we decided to go to the school to attend various practices in preparation fot the school's Culmination Activity.

At school, I was disappointed again because that 'impaktita' directress of ours prohibited to use the piano in the gym because somebody forgot to lock it. By that time, my friend, who happened to be the President of the Glee Club cried and requested to our Prefect to use the piano in a desperate manner. Good thing, the prefect agreed.

So we have our practices and fuck! It was tiring, yet I enjoyed.

Good thing, my dad fetched me and we ate dinner to our Lola's house.

Fuck these things dude! Today, I realized that tomorrow's gonna be the start of the Culmination week! And in Physics, we are asked to bring such difficult things to find just to make a Homemade Flashlight, Periscope, and Kaleidoscope! The bad thing was, our Physics teacher decided that it would be our Laboratory Grade, which is included in our Class Standing! Shoot!

Fraudulence and the Excitement

Sending emails, checking emails, writing a blog. Whatever. Of all these things, I've been receiving countless emails regarding that I've won a lotto, a multi-million dollar account which I reputedly inherit in a uncivilized country and the latest, one asking me for my help because of the civil war in Abidjan, Ivory Coast. It goes like this:

Dear Friend,

My name is Luke Omenda,I am sorry if this mail will come to you as an embarrassment or a suprise,I just felt like empting myself to you,I decided to confide in you,as am faced with total frustration and hardship. My ernest prayer is that you find this mail in good health and blessings. I am presently residing in Abidjan,Cote d'Ivoire.I left my country with my father after the death of my mother during the war in our country and we came here because my father owned a business here,(cocoa business), during the going political crisis here which has turn out into a civil war since 2003,my father was attacked and killed here at the hit of the crisis as the rebels were killing prominent foreigners with the reason that they were financially supporting the government against them and the rebels are accusing the government of doing the killing.

Presently,I am staying in a REFUGEE camp assisted by the Red cross organization, due to the war which the camp is 'securized'--^ The heck?! Is that a word?! by united nations forces and after the death of my father, our house was set ablaze,I was unable to meet my needs pay my bills and accommodation and in my dilemma which was another reason for going to the camp, where I could at least feed and sleep as I did not know anyone here. I take permission to go to the town where they have internet access to enable me mail you.

Secondly,my late father concealed some amount of money in a trunk box and deposited it in a safe keeping house to the sum of $27.3 million dollars which I will want you to help me move out of this country because of the war here. But the safe keeping house does not know the true content of the trunk to be cash as my father declared upon deposit as containing art craft for export. My father confided so much in me after the death of my mother,we were so close that he never did anything without my knowledge and opinion. All that I want is your sincere and genuine help in helping me safe guide this trunk which means that you will have to come here so that we can meet face to face first before proceeding with this claim,as we have to do the claiming of the trunk which the money is concealed claimed out of the safe keeping house first and the money moved out of this country as I am the named next of kin to this deposit.I cannot allow the money remain here while because of the war here which possess a great risk to as my life and future solely lies on it.If you have heard from the news for the past few months now there has been intense fighting and bombing by the French troops which I will like to live here as soon as we have this money moved out of this country. I will also like upon your arrival here to open an account in any of the international banks of your choice here where this money will be lodged into for transfer to your country,I know that this is our first mail, but I have decided to confide in you .I want you to know that for years now,I have lived in absolute frustration, tires and pains without any person around me,no parent, uncles or friend, but God had kept me until now, which I believe that I will smile once again.

Thirdly, I intend you helping me to claim this money as I intend living for your country to start an entire new life and complete my education,as you will have to help in the investment of this money. But I really need your help at this trial and difficult time of mine. I am totally frustrated that my whole mind for now lies on my survival which is securing this money. Please I am confiding completely in you and I really need your assistance at this point of my life as you alone knows of this venture.I wait to hear from you. Thank you for your corporation.

Yours Sincerely,

Luke Omenda.

Duh, stupidity. Pure fraudulent facts and inconsistent ideas.

Now, the UPCAT RESULTS are in and guess what?! I passed on the most difficult entrance exam in the whole Philippines! Well it goes like this:

Here's the application form of my UPCAT:

First choice of school/campus:

UP Mindanao - 1st choice: BS Biology :: 2nd choice: BS Food Technology

2nd choice of school/campus:

UP Manila - 1st choice: BS Biochemistry :: 2nd choice: BS Biology

Okay, so much for that. I qualified for the Mindanao Campus, well I'm quite curious if I'm qualified for UP Manila. But my dad is reluctant to send me to Manila just to attend the tertiary education for some valid reasons:

First is that, money is quite a hindrance when you sent your children to Manila for the rest of college years. Yes, he can afford it but it's quite extravagant when you send money to Manila. And mind you, Manila's quite expensive compared to Davao. Besides, UP Mindanao had the same standard like UP Diliman, UP Manila, UP Los Baños and other UP Campuses nationwide.

Second, I'm still a dependent person. When I get sick, usually the first thing I do is to look for mom rather than getting the first, right initiative which is to take the medicine on my own. I'm not still independent. Yikes!

Yes, I'm still not ready, and despite these, I felt lucky and glorious because not all of my classmates, they could be more intelligent than me but they didn't pass the UPCAT. The first reason is that, they chose a quota course and mostly, they chose a campus which had the highest cut-off grade, which is UP Manila and Diliman.

Well, I felt relieved when my dad approved that I would take the medicine proper on UP Manila! Yeehah!

Enough of that UP thing. In school, I felt really good but stressed. I usually got perfect scores for various quizzes in other subjects, and I really study every night. Up to now, I'm really preoccupied with Math. We had this difficult quiz about proving identities but I love it! It really test your skills in logical thinking and reasoning. Sine, cosine, cosecant, cotangent alpha beta tetta, whatever! As long as I'm an expert on it. Tsk.. just joking. And in Physics, the subject matter is getting more and more difficult than I've ever thought. Optics, light, concave, convex, sheesh! Got to study all of these over and over again until I master all of these.

In practices, everything's getting worse and worse. Especially when we had encountered our very own 'impakta directress', Sr. Sony. Well the story goes like this:

We needed the electric piano badly for the Culmination's dry run. So, we went to her 'anomalous' office. She had this freaky melancholic voice.

Sony: what is these?

Me and Vebz: Sister, this is the letter of permission, and we would like to use the clavinova in the dry run.

Sony: Who will use it?

Me: It's me sister.

Sony: Oh! Only the teachers can use it. Definitely I can't borrow you my clavinova. Sorry!

After numerous pleads, she declined our request. After we went outside to her office, the feeling is very damaging, I mean, perhaps it's gonna be the end of the world when I get frustrated. We paid our tuition fees, and yet, arrgghhh! What a shame! What a SHAME! Fuck off! Can't wait till I graduate!

Prom's coming and I'm not that excited.

Missing something

It's been a week and a half since my last post. Well definitely this is not a miracle. I really miss you guys! Otherwise, it would be a terrible nor a happy week for me. Time runs so fast.Yeah actually, I mean, today is the third week of January and after that, it would be February!!! Lol. Anyways, here's my story which kept me busy for the past week.

The school is very busy today for the preparation of Culmination Week. What's that by the way? Well, culmination week is a week specially intended with fun-filled presentations and educational activities in school. All clubs in the school participated in this activity. Anyways, today, I participated three major roles in the culmination. Actually, I only needed one activity, which is as the main cast in a comical skit and my role there is the voice-over of one of the main cast of the play. But what even shocked me and made me busy throughout the week is that the Glee Club requested me to play Unfaithful (Rihanna) wherein I'll play the piano while Tzarina and Jho will sing that song. It's for their segment for the culmination which is the MTV. They'll imitate the way Myx and MTV presents their songs with matching Veejays and etc. And the third one is that, I'll play the piano again for the English Club's Lion King 2. I'll play one of the play's song, Love will find a way. Oh dear. It's just like I'm confused where I'll go for the practice or what. Shoot.

Let's forget those excruciating school works, lessons, practices and projects for just one night for it's the birthday party of Camille Uy! Weee...! I really enjoyed her party which was held in her house in a plush and luxurious village in the city. Well, we ate and ate until our stomachs so full that we can't walk anymore! No, seriously, but the food was great, actually. Then we went to there entertainment room wherein we sang the Karaoke using the Extreme Magic Sing! Also, we took numerous pictures using her digicam (which I'll post later if she sent me the picture via email..) and for the first time, I sang, even though I'm not gifted with a golden voice. Though it was raining that night, the party was definitely great. Yeah! I went home by 10 o'clock.

Even though I'm that exhausted, I still managed to watch Happy Feet. Whoa, it's a great movie. It's genre was that simple but still you can definitely admire those curte penguins.. sheesh! Penguins are cute and adorable especially when they're young.

While I was typing this post, my classmate, Kevin was here. Duh, who cares? Just sharing just for the sake that my post would be that long.

Please do visit my good 'ol pal, Maricon "Eedom's" blog. This is her new site: http://dukol.blogspot.com Thanks!

The Farewell Song

It really annoys me when someone annoys me with all those nonsense crappy topic. Sheesh, take this for example:

I've been receiving numerous emails claiming that I won the UK Lottery with a jackpot prize of $15,000,000 or I inherited lots of cash and properties from Burkina Faso and Africa. What am I? Stupid?! Like, duh, I've never purchased a Lottery ticket direct from London nor I had a rich family in those 3rd world countries mentioned. Arrghhh, maybe these scums are syndicates trying to victimize another innocent yet naive victim. Seriously, duh!

Anyways, after numerous failed attempts, I had finished the Graduation song approximately 3 days ago. Well it goes like this:

Enigmatic Dreams
Renz Marione M. Bulseco

I.

I remember that it started with a smile,
Makes me grin when I remember these
We barely knew each other for a while
In an instant we became the best of friends
I look back to the time when we've first met
But I know we've shared our lifelong dreams
Those dreams have yet untold (Have yet untold..)
And still we met the same infinity
Remember the times that we had fallen and stumbled down.. (of all the times..)
But still we stand together and face the reality.. (united we stand..)

Bridge:

A moment to cherished with
A moment to say goodbye
But friend this not the end (never say goodbye..)
And time will come we'll meet again!
We can't wait to see each other..

Chorus:

Tomorrow's gonna be another great day
Sunshine reigns in our brand-new phase of life
Tears that rolled and the untainted laughter that we have made
The joys and pains that we've ventured in
Follow your dreams, the stars as your path
In the end will gonna miss each other again
We'll never know that our life would be fulfilled (our destiny..)
So if we could reach the rainbow's infinite end, life must go on...
Go on...

II.

Have you recalled those trials we've pursued
Those trials made us stronger than before.
Those days could be the worst in our life
But then you gave support to me as well.
We laughed, we shared, we cried (every now and then..)
To be united is the greatest immunity
We've struggled all along (struggled long before..)
And we proved that the stars aren't blind at all!
The days had passed so fast and we can't turn back time (no more regrets..)
But still my dear friend this is not the final adieu! (Thank you my friend!)

repeat bridge then chorus..
Instrumental.. then Bridge, chorus (1 fret higher..)

Coda:

My dear friend, thank you
We've shared our ups and downs
It's time to say our final goodbyes
Time will come and we will see each other.. again!

In my own estimate, this song would last approxamately 10 minutes, more or less. This would be enough in our graduation rites. Hope our section would win again after the triumphant Mo. Candida Song Composition which we won the first place. Maybe, this would be the final piece, But I'll make some minor changes with the help of my talented friend Kitin together with the responsible (ehem..) officers of the Chrysolite Class.

Slideshow - new class pic

New Pictures of Mine

(I) - Fooling with my classmate's camera during Ma'am Lasay's tedious subject of all - El Fili! Haha.. But the story's fun and exciting though the novel is very crucial.

(II) - Me and Helen.. took the advantage just to have a picture on the digicam. This was taken without a teacher.. of course!

Countless Thoughts

Torrential rain keeps on battering the city causing unimaginary havoc and some noted disasters in the neighboring towns of Davao and some other towns in the Visayas as well. No people, this is not the primary cause of a typhoon but it's just a feeble Intertropical Convergence Zone or ITCZ as what the local people called. Seemingly, the weather for the whole week is very good, I think and for me because it's very cold, there's no need for full blast of the aircon unit and it's very comfortable, though, the only problem in here is it causes much more damage not just with the property but it also, rather cost lives as well. Numerous landslides had been recorded in just a span of two weeks wherein it cause damage to the national road of Davao del Sur, and it softens the soil which damage the national property. Unfortunately, as I had learned from the news last night, the landslide had cost a life and made the other 2 still missing - nowhere to be found. Inasmuch that today, the weather is fine, the sun showed his awe to the people but nevertheless, weather today is much more unpredictable. Maybe, rain will batter again and release tremendous downpour in the city.

Oh yeah, the Davao River is now in critical level. Ideally, the rain had caused some major problems to the environment indirectly. Seemingly, the rain had caused tremendous siltation to the Davao River, which drains to the Davao Gulf. Now, because of siltation, it causes damage especially to the Marine Life, which is fish kill, which drains up the Oxygen supply of the water which eventually causing to drown several fishes underwater, literally. Hey, am I a Marine Biologist or what? Or am I talking the Geek Language again? Oh my, oh dear.

Talking about intelligence (ehem) or words similar to that word, I'm in the honors list again, in fact, I'm the third among more than 30+ qualified students in the classroom with an average of 91.4 . I'm so happy. And in fact in my batch, out of 204, I'm the 6th. I'm so happy, really, well it's just like I've proved myself that I could do the impossible, well I know my limitations and capacities as well.

Back at home, as usual, I told mom about this (except the over-all rank) and she's okay about it. Okay, now here's another one. As I arrived home, maybe that's Tuesday, if not mistaken that one of mom's student impatiently said that it is his turn already because he had already ''memorized'' the whole concept about the Philippine Festivals, and etc. So, mom questioned him and this is the actual conversation of the two:

Kingking: Teacher, memorize ko na lahat. Ako naman please????

Mom: Okay king, when do we celebrate Christmas?

K: 12 midnight.

Mom: Wrong! It's December 25 my dear!

K: Ay, oo, tama. hahahahaha!

Mom: Tawa-tawa ka jan. Okay, next question. Kelan nagsisimula at nagtatapos ang Simbang Gabi?

K: Three o'clock!

*and everybody laughed*

M: Hahahaha.. nakakatuwa ka talaga! Mali!

Well, that ends there funny conversation.

Fortunately, I made the Graduation Song and hopefully, we'll gonna win for the eliminations last week of February to be sung in our graduation day.

It's like hell again - totally different and innate. By Monday, it would be our CSAT (College Schools Aptitude Test) or whatever that acronym means. And by Wednesday, it would our NCAE (I don't know what this means again.. sorry!). For the whole week we had to review Five different subjects for the most excruciating yet the ''most awaited'' test of the year. I know that CSAT would be that difficult compared to the latter examination. We had to sit in the armchair for at least 8 hours just to answer those confusing questions of the said test. And even lunchbreak and recess is time pressured. Oh my, oh dear. There are several preparations before you leave highschool.

Oh, before I forgot. I broke the key of the Music Room! Oh noooo! Miraculously, our Music Teacher is not angry to me but he keeps on threating me about that old jammed door. Shoot!

Another day

Before we proceed to any of those inquisitive facts and fraudaulent accussations, let me write or type some of the highlights before new year. Well, mom bought me these oh-so fluffy and comfortable slippers that I've been undyingly request her to buy these cool slippers. Thank god, she bought it 8 or 9 days ago, I think. Then, it's so cool. As you can see on the picture, I look like a lion or something different which made my mother, father and brother laugh whenever they see me walking to my new slippers.

I've discovered something. Something about those pesky nails. Well, for the whole last and final week of the year 2006, swarms of snails creeped in our garden which is quite awkward and yucky to see. From the small variety to the big one. (Eeeewww!) Then, my dad gathered all those pesky snails in the the dustpan (mind you, it was filled instantly), then he told me to bring the salt. I obeyed him of course. Then he said that this is the BEST way to kill a snail rather than to throw it in a almost 90-degree trajectory path and wait for the final squish to come. NAh, seriously, dad sprinkled generous amounts of salt and guess what? Snails began to mutate, or what the heck is that - the just simply melt in a gooey way. So we threw it in a canal and the snail massacre went for almost 3 straight nights. Yoh!

Christmas vacation is indeed the most boring days of my life. Somehow, it's the idlest days that I've ever experience. So this means that life in school is funnier than in home ut definitely, there are lots and tons of goods and treats during the yuletide vacation. New Year in Davao is quiet, as usual because of the city ordinance which states that firecrackers are banned in the city which was implemented 4 years ago. But still, it was still good despite the deafening silence in Davao, and what's good is that nobody got hurt in Davao, except the girl who had been hit by the stray bullet in Island Garden City of Samal.

School is up, the distribution of cards would be next friday which made me anxious and nervous for my rank, the Culmination of Activities would be coming for the last week of January which hopefully, I would become the part of the cast, then the JS Promenade this 2nd week of February and the last but not the least, the ultimate Finals this last week of February till the first Friday of March. After that, we'll graduate on March 24, 2007. Too sad but it's the time to face another life - the College Life.

Somehow, aside from those fun-filled and exciting upcoming activities, I would undergo series of hard tests, quizzes and projects. Oh my! I just post my newly acquired pictures because I'm a vain person (does it spelled vaine or vain? Never mind!).

What I've Missed

It's been like almost a week or so since my last post. Well, it's just like I'm sick and tired waiting for the loading time of the internet. I found out that the internet connection would be back to its normal 'basis' within two to three weeks. 2 to 3 EXCRUCIATING and IMPATIENT weeks to deal with. Oh dear, it's just like I've been so unlucky or what?! Nahh, big deal, it's because of that damn earthquake that hit Taiwan which damaged the undersea communication cable which affects its performance. Somehow the rate dropped tremendously from 50 GB per second to 5 GB per second. Bloody hell! Anyways, this would be my first post for the year 2007 - the year of the raging FIRE PIG! Yeehah! Oink-oink-oink! I found out that those who were born in 1966, 1978, 1990 and 2002 would be lucky this year because Horse is lucky today. And for those pigs out there? You're unlucky this year. Too bad.

Last time, I made a punchline a while ago if there's such a year of the fish. Yeah, silly me. Now, okay here we go, let me explain why is there a bunch of pictures about Davao City in my previous post dated on December 31, 2006. It's because my aunt forwarded these things via email to me. And I think it would be a lateral proposal to all of you that Davao is really a wonderful city. From the state-of-the-art airport to it's bustling streets and sprawling billboards out there, I mean it's just that I'm proud to be a Dabawenyo . Clearly, by means of transportation, Davao's free of traffic well, except on rush hours on those primary streets of the city. And take note, it's the third largest city in the world and it's the 17th livable city in the whole world. Davao's could be innate but it's an industrialized, commercialized and urbanized city. It's land size is way to bigger compared to the whole NCR - approximately 2,200 sq. km. And take note, the water is safe to drink with for it's the third in the world as the most potable drinking water, 2 places form the champion, New Zealand. And the city is very accessible in terms of by air, sea or land. It's an hour and quarter of an hour away from the capital city and it's relatively cheap to live in Davao compared to other cities here in the Philippines.

Well, that's it! Let's change topic, shall we? Well, I'm so happy when the results of the periodical exam had been returned two days ago. Here are the results of my test during the Third Periodical Examination:

:: Christian Living [ 98% ] --> whoaa!
:: Filipino [ 96% ]
:: Physics [ 94% ]
:: English [ 92% ]
:: Economics [ 90% ]
:: Mathematics [ 88% ] --> Yeah, right. See that?! Nyaha.

And my new year's resolution? Study harder, don't waste time, be frugal, don't procrastinate but just cram - well it doesn't matter because I'm getting used to it and be alert on every lessons taken by the teacher. And most of all, be a good son. Graduation is fast approaching but before I march, I must undergo series of 'stressful' weeks which you would encounter from my posts soon.(I guess, no, obviously? Duh. =). Well, I found out that I'm kinda interested and it's like I love to study in day. I mean, my day's incomplete if I didn't study even a single subject. Well, that's it. I'm sure you miss me (or not.) At least I had this first post for the year 2007. Happy oink-oink year again!

Oh yeah! I've heard that the tuition hike for UP Campuses around the country would be approved - that is 300%! Imagine, in UP Diliman and Manila respectively, the rate per unit is 1000 pesos while in Mindanaom it's 600 pesos already, equivalent to at least 30 thou per sem or year or whatsoever. I'm thinking for this over and over again!

*author's note: If you found that there's an error regarding of my presentation of those facts, kindly correct me immediately and just comment or email me. Thanks! Enjoy reading!*
