Pat On The Back

Whenever I have problems, I try to deal with it by myself. I don't seek help from someone, unless if everything gets worse. I've been like this since I was young, but I am not afraid to share my struggles if it becomes overwhelming. I don't know, I think I don't have this 'empathy' aura or vibe. Most people think that I'm straightforward and frank. When it comes to empathy, I score low in that area. For some reasons, some of my friends are comfortable of sharing their problems to me–love, friendship, work, you name it.

And here comes the worse part–when they start to cry hysterically, I panic inside. I get dumbfounded. I honestly do not know what to do.  I give them advises base not on my intuition or experiences, but through rationalizing and proper judgment on what I think is best for them. I know I have a strong personality, but I do empathize with people, it's just, it's hard for me to show that I truly empathize. It really is hard when you are independent and have a strong personality, yes?

Well, I am not perfect, and will always not be, but I am a work in progress. Always a work in progress. I can be a good listener, but I just can't hug a person to calm him or her down.

Sacrifices

Okay, so Happy 16th birthday to my beloved brother. Yeeee.

Also, Happy 20th birthday, Carlo Castillo! Weeee.

---

Last week, I just turned 19. Nothing had changed within my physical looks or in my behavior. In just the same me. But anyway the point is, I wish for eternal happiness despite those unexpected things.

Okay, there are so many things in my mind right now - thesis, experimental design of my thesis, the never-ending saga in laboratory reports, surprise quizzes, long exams, origin-insertion-action of the muscular system of Felis domestica and many more. How I wish time wouldn't be that fast. How I wish. But yeah, there are so many things to consider nowadays.

Every thing in my life right now is very crucial to my future.

Tomorrow, my family and some close relatives will have a family outing somewhere in wilderness. I on the other hand will be at the beach not to relax but to continue with my thesis. Gaaaah. Good thing I have already been to that place. O___O Also, the reason is almost the same on why I don't update my multiply site. You know, I really miss my bffs here in multiply. Hahaha. Original online buddies, per se. :))

Some random thoughts...

Speaking of school, we already have killed two cats. Wanna know the reason? It's quite silly actually. The first batch of cats were infested by those pesky fat-assed maggots. We forgot to submerge it in a 37% formaldehyde solution. Tae. Plus the smell was really... UGGGHHH... pungent. We can still smell that.. ugghhh.. pungent smell of rotting flesh as far as 50 meters! Ewww. Now I have goosebumps. Yuck talaga.

Convenience Stores are so... uhmm... convenient. Last Friday I went to the convenience to buy my own toothbrush, because it's been ages since my last replacement of it. YAAAKKK. Hahaha. So I grab a cool lookin' Oral B toothbrush. I thought it cost 20 pesos. I gave the cashier 50 pesos and she said something. Worse, iba yung pagkarinig ko sa kanya (maybe brought about by stress).

I thought she said "May 16 pesos ka lang sir?"
I replied sternly: "Miss, 50 lang pera ko..."
"Sir, 60 pesos kasi toothbrush mo"
"Ay...Ganon, Hehe. Eto oh (binigay ang exact amount)"

Tae, nawala tuloy ako sa budget nang dahil sa isang toothbrush. But yeah, it was worth it, since I have forced my old toothbrush to extend its life about a hundred times. HAHAHA. Kidding.

So yeah, it's quite unusual to blog early in the morning. Hehehehe.

The geek is about to sign off. Stay tuned.

Teehee! =)

Eye to Eye Through The Storm

Fiiiiiinnnnaaalllllyyyy.

I can't believe that I actually survived this week, hell week to be precise. I think I need to detoxify my body. Stress is toxic, you know. I need..uhhhhh.. no... I HAVE to watch Half-Blood Prince tomorrow. Damn. Great, I have so many things in my mind.

I have to talk with that BFAR Guy or to my aunt regarding my thesis.
I have to gather lots of journals about my thesis. Crap.
I have to talk with Mamayko's RAs (research assistants) because I want to start with my experiment.
I have to pass the second draft of my outline even if I'm not enrolled with BIO200a.
I have to memorize the skeletal system of the ff: Chondrichthyes, Osteichthyes, amphibians, reptiles, birds and mammals.
I have to study Plant Ecology Lec/Lab, Molecular Bio, and Biochem too! Damn it.

But despite these stressful activities, we still smile in front of the camera. Nice.

Anyway, I have just noticed that a LOT of people in school were sick. Last week I got sick but recovered after a few days. Moreover, people are getting paranoid with the notorious A(H1N1) virus!!! What the hell. This virus isn't that deadly compared to SARS (Severe Acute Respiratory System). Pandemonium is not necessary. Tsktsk. =/

By the way, this week, I really had an itch to read something, aside from those nerdy books from hell. I borrowed Dyan's Diary of Wimpy Kid. The first book was really funny. In fairness it was a good read. Dyan, pahiram ng second book ng Wimpy Kid! HAHAHAHA. Two weeks ago, mom finally completed the Harry Potter series (books). Scholastic had finally released the paperback edition of the last HP book (Deathly Hallows). Mom didn't hesitate to buy it despite its price - Php 575.00! Quite expensive for a paperback book. Tsk. But yeah, I'll probably start reading it this week. Well, IDK. Natatanggal lang talaga pagod ko pag nakababasa ako ng mga novels.

By the way...

Did you know that....

I signed up for the cheerdance almost a month ago. HAHAHAHAHAHA. Whatever.
Anyway, I still have lots of things to do.

The weather is killing me, literally. Have a sappy...ooopps, uhhh, HAPPY weekend everyone!

It's been a while.

Brother's not here, so as dad. Brother's attending some youth camp at UIC. But duh, he's just there because his palalabs is there too. That's what lovers are for. Bitter? Naah. I don't care.

Yeah, a lot of things have occurred in the past few weeks.

The King of Pop is dead.
Michael Jackson is dead.
The event organizer (or sponsor?) of MJ's concert will soon face bankruptcy due to MJ's sudden demise.
Only one survived an Airbus A310 Yemen-based aircraft crashed near the Indian Ocean (or not?).
Heal the world, make it a better place.
The adminstration pipz of UPMin requires students to wear ID due to incoherent reasons.

Forgive me if the headlines were not that accurate. I rarely watch the idiot box. I haven't watched a single episode of May Bukas Pa, Only You, Tayong Dalawa, SNN, Bandila and the late night documentary shows. You see, I'm getting used with this behavior since the moment I've entered college.

Bro!
Bes!
Bok, walang talu-talo!
Showbiz news buuuuwkwaaassss!
Oo, Crizzzy, Euh-heh-heh-heh-heh

Ayshizzzzz.

Two weeks ago, I saw something in the National Bookstore, my favorite tambayan. The serial killer of the serial killers is already out in NBS! But wait there's more! Dexter's three books were fused to one book and cost around 795 pesos (compared to the price if you buy the three books individually, at 315 pesos per book). I should buy that book. YES. Gad, if only I had enough time. Sige lang.

Moving on...

Apparently, I am beginning to appreciate the sheer ugliness of my schedule. I used to hate it because every TTh, my class starts at 1.00pm and ends at 7.00pm and every WF, it will start at 8.30am and ends at 1 in the afternoon. Pffft. But heck, I just realized that I have enough time to sleep. As in SLEEEEEEPPPPPP.

Oh yeah, I have to admit that I have a hard time on writing something in Tagalog. It's not that I'm bobo in Tagalog, or not used to it (heck I speak Tagalog in the house all the time)... it's just... uhm... it's been three years since my last composition in Sulating Pangwakas. What a lame excuse, but SRSLY. I'm getting used with the English language. I write in English. I seldom write an entry in Tagalog. I am more comfortable with English than in Tagalog I found the latter to be more difficult when it comes to translating or associating things with words...errr...something like that.

I thought FIL1 wouldn't be that significant to our life. But yeah, I (or we) should take this course whether I (or we) like it or not. Various professors from the Math, Bio and Chem departments do not use Tagalog as their primary language on teaching. My God! I can't imagine if Biochem and Organic Chem would be taught in Tagalog. Yak no, It's not that I don't uphold the state of being Nationalistic per se, but it's very difficult. Translate cholesterol, amino acids, Ketone, Adenosine Triphosphatase in Tagalog please, and you'll know the reason why. Pffft. Anyway, we'll perform something during the Linggo ng Wika. Hmmm.

Good news for everyone, especially for my schoolmates - we're going to have the Torch Night and the Freshmen Night!!! Yahoo! I'm 75% certain about this, let's just wait for the final verdict guys.

YESSSSS! No NSTP2 tomorrow!!!

Align Center
Early cleavage stage.

Today is Friday, free day. But heck, tomorrow, I should start memorizing those improtant terms. Hay, hopefully di ako mauubusan ng dugo sa ZOO113. Next week's gonna be our first laboratory exam in ZOO113 (Comparative Vertebrate Anatomy).

....and it's a moving exam.

Pusikatmemeng, I hate moving exams.

Bio students of UPLB, sinong tumetake ng ZOO113 this sem? HAHAHAHA. Aja aja aja.

Ta-ta-ta for now.

XX-XX,
you know I love her.

(Sa makagets lang. :P)

Do you remember these?

Seeing the innocent faces of fresh meats made me realize that I'm old. We're old. Their unending corny jokes (criiik-criiik-criiik), gazillion stories to tell and unlimited bonding moments reminds me of something.

Things do not move in a constant motion.
Things change as time goes by.
There is no such thing as permanent.
We have to move on.

Padayoooooooon.

PS: Oh yeah, welcome back Leizel!!! :)) HAHAHAHA

Let's Celebrate - BioGenesis 2009

Okay, the first two weeks of school was pretty tiring. Haggard. ZOO113 (Comparative Vertebrate Anatomy) really tested my memory skills. BOT150 (Plant Ecology) Lab tested my priorities in life. BIO101 (Molecular Biology) challenged my 20-20 vision, thanks to the eye-straining and nerve wracking assignments. Most of all, I'm going to start with the second draft of my thesis.

But despite all these, we have to move on and look on the brighter sides. Besides, for two years, I'm getting used with the stressful environment of this holistic institution, the only institution where bright minds and ideas meet. Yabang eh no. Lol

Anyway, we had our acquaintance party, the BioGenesis yesterday and I really enjoyed it. Also, I'm glad that a LOT of freshies participated in the activities prepared by the seniors, and they really enjoyed it. Here are some pictures, courtesy of Mon Abpi.

I took this shot. :)

Lots and lots of balloons.

The creative committee. :)

The fresh meats are here!

Ate Macel and Kuya Modda - the emcees.

PseudoBUSY

The second round of the bloodshed had finally ended around 11 am of January 26, 2008. Weee. That day was our second long exam in Chem17 Lec. Fortunately it was an EASY exam. I wonder kung ano ang nakain ng Chem teacher [I shouldn't call him Professor since he still have to take his masteral this June] because he's fond of making DIFFICULT long exams. Well, the memories of Chem16 Lec still haunts me every now and then. Okay corny na 'to, but it's true. The fact that I got a 2.25 grade in Chem 16 was a some sort of a chamba-ish moment. Nabawi ko lang yan sa Lab grade ko, kaya nagkaganoon. Hahay.

Anyhow.

After that exam, I immediately went home together with Inna, Van and July. But for the others, they intruded Marky's crib in Laz Terrazas (a plush and luxurious village located on the steep hills of Ma-a). Favorite hobby na ata namin to - CRIB HOPPING. Unfortunately, I didn't join them since I'm so tired and I need to SLEEP.

When they arrived at Mark's place, guess what, NATULOG lang din sila (some of them watched TV)! Ang iba natulog sa comfy and luxurious couch nila (like Yuri) and for some, wala nang arte, humiga na sa carpet, kumuha ng ilang pillows and POOF, they snored in their respective places in no time. Here are some revealing evidences na natulog sila like SLEEPING BEAUTY. Special thanks to JOIE SHEEN BASTIAN - one of the pioneering paparazzi of Shakira Shabing for the pictures. Naks.

Wow. Nagbibeauty rest si Madame Sha-bing. Hahaha. Biro lang Yuri.

Grabeh. Binabaha na ang den nang dahil sa laway niyo! Bwhahaha :D

Hindi po ito White Lady. Si Sheara po ito. Hahaha :D

See? I told you. If I just didn't fought my mom hours before the exam, I should be there. Eh kaso, wala ako sa mood nung morning na yun because of STRESS, ayun! Di tuloy ako binigyan ng BAON ni MAMA! Huhuhuh. Sayang. 100 pa naman nyun. Hahay. That's life. Bweset.

Oh, Last Friday, I had this weird adventure. And it feels like I'm still in highschool. It goes like this. I didn't wore the appropriate PE shirt since I thought that I wouldn't attend my PE class. We were dismissed EARLY in our Chem 17 Lab, so early that we went to DHK Building (Department of Human Kinetics, hindi na HKC) at around 12 noon and played Table Tennis. I used my cellphone as the source of music (Nokia 6300). My PE teacher saw it and he was amazed. He asked me for the price and etc. The moment he checked the attendance, he warned me about my shirt. If I didn't changed it to pure white or any UP white shirt, he'll confiscate my cellphone. I know it's a joke but natakot ako dun. Praning na kasi because nung highschool ako, teachers there were fond of confiscating cellphones, iPods and other digital thingamajigs. It's like parang ngayon lang sila nakakita ng cyber doohickeys. Ooops. I'm talking too much. So right after the attendance, I sneaked out of the room and headed straight to Ate Malou's place para kunin ang mga finotocopy ko sa Chem. Unfortunately, hindi kinaya ang pagfotocopy ng Chang ni Ai2x (or tinatamad lang sila?!). Keshyo raw hindi klaro eh di na nila pinatuloy ang kanilang trabaho. Ugh, The nerve!

[Chang - Chemistry book worth 2000 pesos.]

So I hailed a jeepney and went straight to Kanluran (CSM - College of Science and Mathematics). And parang minalas ako, out of order pala ang photocopier doon. Haay naku. So I waited for the other block to be dismissed in their Chem17 Lab para may makasabay ako pauwi. On our way home, I gave the book to Mark and he'll return it to Ai2x.

Haay. Whattafriday.

BTW, as I wrote (with the help of the keyboard, not a pen) this blog, biglang bumukas ang pintuan ng kwarto ko, and it reminds me of CHELSEA. I used to love this name (Ugh. Highschool memories). So cute and pretty - appropriate and fit for a pretty princess, until Mamatay ka sa Sindak ni Barbara changed my perception with this name. Haay naku. Chelsea's funnier (and admittedly creepier) than Chaka Doll. Chaka Doll's cheap. Bwahahaha. :)) And Chelsea used to be a pretty doll until minalas lang siya because of a life long curse. Weh. Di nga.

YES. Finally. AFTER COUNTLESS YEARS OF SEARCHING AND RUMAGGING LIMEWIRE, I finally found this song. I knew the lyrics and the melody but I'm clueless with its title.

"I love you always forever
Near or far, closer together
Everywhere I will be with you
Everything I will do for you"

Yes! It was entitled I LOVE YOU ALWAYS TOGETHER by Donna Lewis. Feel ko nasa dagat ako whenever I hear this song.

Oh yeah. BTW. I just remembered this. I just saw the University calendar and by February 4-8, it would be our PRE-REGISTRATION WEEK. Ang bilis ng panahon. Second Year College na ako. YIKES. Well, I'm gonna enlist myself to my future subjects:

Bio 70 (Earth Science and Process) ahhww, too bad hindi na si DADDY BASTIAN ang teacher, si Ma'am Talde na, well according to DADDY BASTIAN'S daughter, Joie Sheen.
Bot 3 Lec (Intermediate Botany) yikes. Dr. Novero again.
Bot 3 Lab (Intermediate Botany Lab)
Chem 31 (Elem. Organic Chem) and who knows? Maybe yung bagong teacher from Food Sci and Chem Department. Sana bago. Huwag yung tipong "comeback tandem" na prof.
Chem 31.1 (Elem. Organic Chem Lab)
MCB 1 Lec (General Microbiology) Sabi nila, babalik ang terror prof ng microbio ng UP. And she's fond of giving a 3.0 grade, despite your greatest effort in mcb. I just hope it would STILL be Ma'am Pakdat or Ma'am Vernaiz. Aanhin pa ba ang UNO kung TRES ang USO. yahyah. Whatever.
MCB 1 Lab.
Phys 3 (General Physics 1) Hahay. I just hope this subject would be offered this SUMMER. And I don't want Engr. Acosta to be the teacher of this subject.

and 1 GE subject. Sana MST6 - Biodiversity Challenge. Teacher namin, ang ex-DEAN ng CSM! Weee. Ang pinakaEMO na DEAN sa buong UP System! Weehah.

Oh yeah. We still had one exam left for this week, and that is Bio 3 Lab. It's a moving exam, actually and all we need was to memorize each parts of organisms from Eukaryotic bacteria, prokaryotes, fungis, plants and animals. Haay.

This is the LIFE of an iskolar ng BAYAN. Bow.

T GEE I EF

T G I F

in English: Thank God it's Friday.
in Tagalog: Hay salamat sa Poong Maykapal at Biyernes na.

but in our native tongue: PISTEEE. MIDTERM CRISIS NA! EXAM NA NEXT WEEK. YATI RA.

So yeah we had a final schedule for our midterm exams, and I promise to myself that I will perform better than the previous exams (though the results were GOOD, except for one. Just don't ask.)

January 16, 2008 (Wednesday) 2.30-4.30 pm - Chem 17 Lab 1st long exam
January 17, 2008 (Thursday) 2.30 - 4:00 pm - Comm 3 (AH3) Departmental Midterm Exam
January 22, 2008 (Tuesday) 4:00 - 5:30 pm Nat. Sci 1 (MST1) 2nd Long Exam
January 22, 2008 (Tuesday) 1:00 - 2:30 pm - Bio 3 Lec 2nd Long Exam - plant part
January (3rd week-4th week)* - Math 14 - 2nd Long Exam
January (3rd week-4th week)* - Chem 17 Lec 2nd Long Exam
January (3rd week-4th week)* - Bio 3 Lab MOVING Exam

[* - subject to prior change]

Let's do simple math, shall we?

Lab reports to answer, plus grueling assignments, plus surprise quizzes, divided by 24 hours, multiply by the number of neurons present in my brain, minus by the number of hours of my SLEEP, plus the number of hours of mere consciousness, minus the price of bluebooks, minus the ink of my gtec, plus the number of coffees that I had drank since last week

YIELDS TO THIS ANSWER:

Yes. A zombie. WHY? Well. Just take a look on my simple equation. It results to dreadful eye bags, heavy eyes, freaky DIET, nosebleed, blood dripping from my nose, ears, mouth, eyes (eew), sleep deprivation and most of all, MENTAL INSANITY. Crazy. Baliw. Buang. Sha-gue.

Oh yeah, our planned field trip to Camuigin was canceled due to the stern decision of our Dean. He had the point though but hopefully the place would be outside DAVAO CITY. Yeehee.

Haay. This is the REAL Life. Things are getting tougher than last sem and it would get harder next year and the following year, and the year after the following year until I reached the Med school. Oh yeah. So, again and again, I would like to reiterate this to myself that CRAMMING and PROCRASTINATING are subtle forms of BAD HABIT - not a GOOD ONE which I formerly believed way back in high school.

Back in our PE class, about 9 hours ago, I checked my weight and guess what?! I DECREASED BY ALMOST 6 POUNDS! Damn it. Last sembreak, I weighed a good 107.5 lbs., and now? I'm only 102 lbs. God. I wish that I could still manage to weigh a little more than a hundred ten, but because of accumulated stress, that would be way TOO IMPOSSIBLE :(. So I once played Table Tennis and I already proved to myself that I am a CERTIFIED JAR-HEAD. Jar head. In tagalog or bisaya - BANGA. Such a crappy loser whothinksheknowshowtoplaytabletennisbutinfacthedoesnot thing. Hahaha. But at least I had a two hours session of physical exercise good for at least twice a week. HAHAHA. Out of seven games, I only had two WINS and 5 LOSES. Hahaha. I just laugh at this because I really ENJOYED table tennis despite of the numerous number of loses.

When I got home around 5pm (and it was drizzling moderately hard enough to categorized it as a light rain), I was playing the piano to relieve my mental stress when my mom, dad and brother arrived. They brought something important.

A wall clock for my room. Para maging PRANING SA ORAS.

DONUTS. yumyum.

MILK TEA - an answer to my stressful day

Even how stressful UP is, I still love Oble's academic institution. It is the place where young and bright minds meet on a chaotic and entropic environment. UP will always be UP. BTW, before I end this post, let me leave you a song entitled: UP ANG GALING MO sang by the UP Centennial Band. Promise, LSS to lalo na kung ika'y taga UP :))

please click the play button.

Narito kami [nagpupugay]
Sa [unibersidad] ng aming buhay
[Ikaw] pa rin ang [binabalikan]
‘Di pa rin malilimutan
[Ikaw ang UP naming mahal]

Salamat sa iyong mga [guro]
Salamat sa inyong pagtuturo
Taglay niyo ang kahusayan
Taglay niyo ang karunungan
Hinubog niyo kami sa kabutihan

Sandaang taon na tayo
Lagi ka pa rin sa aming puso
Kaya’t kami sumasaludo
[UP ang galing mo!]
UP ang galing mo!

[Wala nang iba pang maihahambing]
Sa [talino] mo’t [angking galing]
Daanin man sa siyensya
Hi-tech man o kahit ano pa
Ikaw UP ang [nangunguna]

Sa iyong mga dugo ang kasaysayan
Dumaloy sa [pag-unlad] ng ating bayan
Sagisag ka ng kagitingan
Bandila ka ng kalayaan
Pag-asa ka ng mamamayan

Sandaang taon na tayo
Lagi ka pa rin sa aming puso
Sandaang taon na tayo
UP ang galing mo!
UP ang galing mo!

Sandaang taon na tayo
Dangal ka ng Pilipino
Sentro ka ng pagbabago
UP ang galing mo!

Sandaang taon na tayo
UP ang galing mo!
UP ang galing mo!

Hopefully I could still manage to survive the so-called "HELL WEEK". Au revoir. Good luck to ALL OF US.

The PIG'S remaining DAYS

The end is near.

It's like saying goodbye to Piglet, Babes, the three little pigs, PEGGY, idig-idig [my alleged pet pig when I was young], BABOY and alike.

The end is near.

I've finally finished and completed the arduous yet exciting Bio 3 (Biodiversity) Lab Reports. I've finished not just one lab exercise, but three life-long exercises. I am half through with my heavy home works and school works. I can now concentrate with my upcoming Chemistry long quiz.

I am almost through.

My friend as well as my classmate, July, stated that these home works almost killed her festive mood in today’s holiday season. I agree with her. I second the motion.

My friend Geva, a BACA [Bachelor of Arts in Communication Arts] student said that she didn’t know how to start her midterm projects as school resumes this January 3, 2008.

Inna gave a comment on one of my friendster account. She said that it’s quite difficult to locate those pesky answers on our lab reports in Bio 3.

My good old pal Chippy AKA Kim [Krista] didn’t have plans to study for her upcoming long exams in Microbiology and Animal Science.

Fred Egg had tremendous assignments on his SocSci subjects.

Neil would only worry if it is January 2, 2008. For now, he’s gonna enjoy the festive spirit of the yuletide season.

Life is always difficult. You should deal with it.

While I was busy on answering my Bio 3 Lab reports, Carmi texted me that we should have some quality time together with my barkada at the mall (G-mall). Uggh, again?! So we finalized our plans by midnight.

Life is short and full of surprises.

I’m still suffering with my severe flu and my head aches so bad when night struck. I drank two medicine tablets and good thing my head ache went off. Eventually, mom gave me a cool massage on my forehead, head, back and chest. She surprised me.

Life is so sweet and wonderful.

I crave for fruitcakes. My friends find me weird for I find fruitcakes delicious.

Life is a sophisticated thing. Life is WEIRD.

I’m quite anxious with the upcoming year, which is the year 2008. I really don’t know what would be my fate in the next five days.

Destiny shall linger upon one’s life. It is a mysterious paradigm.

I’m going to sleep early. I’m going to meet my old friends within the next 10 hours.

Life is sweet, delicate and a wonderful gift from GOD. Five jittery days before 2008 !!!
